Each year the Canadian Die Casters Association (CDCA) in collaboration with its partners and the Mohawk College Scholarship Committee award a $1,000 scholarship to a second or third year student whose program benefits the die casting industry. If you are a student at Mohawk College whose program leads down such a path and would like to learn more about our scholarships please contact us at info@diecasters.ca 2009
CDCA bursary winner Dmitri Nassyrov, a McGill University materials engineering student (centre) receives his $1,000 cheque from Murray Abramovitch, CDCA Board president. Also pictured, from the left, are treasurer Danny DiLoello, McGill associate professor Frank Mucciardi, CDCA consultant Barry Davies and vice-president Yahia Reguig Mohawk College approached the CDCA requesting the remaining scholarship funds (a total of $5,000) be invested in an Ontario Trust Fund for Student Support (OTSS). The CDCA educational committee, after careful consideration, agreed to support this excellent opportunity since donations to this fund are perpetual and will therefore benefit students well beyond the original 5-year plan. The OTSS was created in collaboration with the Ontario Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities and Mohawk College. The provincial government will match each dollar put into the trust fund. Contributions to the OTSS are permanently endowed and the interest generated on the account will be used towards future scholarship winners. As a result, the interest from a total of $10,000 will be awarded in the form of a scholarship for Mohawk College students starting in 2009 and continuing into the future.
