This important win will allow Canadian manufacturers to deduct an additional 42 cents in expenses for each dollar invested in new production equipment. It will provide an additional return on capital investment of approximately 12 to 15 per cent. Overall, this accelerated capital cost allowance will save manufacturers more than $600 million in 2012-13 and $2.5 billion over the next five years.

This is the result of a 12-month-long advocacy campaign led by CME involving manufacturers, members of the Federal Cabinet, Members of Parliament from all parties, the 40 industry associations that are members of the Canadian Manufacturing Coalition, and the Canadian Labour Congress.

As some of you are aware, your Association joined the Canadian Manufacturers & Exporters group last year to add the voice of Canadian die casters to that influential association of associations.

Since that time we have attended meetings and added our voice to numerous concerns that affect us all.  One of those was the application of pre-arrival Importer Admissibility Data (IAD) by the Canadian Border Services Agency.  Our joint letter to CBSA of April 13 can be read HERE and their response of July 14th is HERE.

The group continues to discuss this with Border Services and addition information will be posted here when available.
